What is AI ACT?

It is a comprehensive bill created by the European Union and aims to regulate the use of artificial intelligence technologies. Today, artificial intelligence is widely used in many sectors such as health, education, finance, and security, and deeply affects social life. However, the rapid development of these technologies has also created various risks in terms of ethics, security, and human rights.

AI ACT was prepared in response to these problems to ensure that artificial intelligence systems are developed and used ethically, safely, and responsibly. The law not only supports technological innovation, but also protects individuals and society.

Security and Transparency

To ensure that AI systems operate in a secure, human rights-respecting and transparent manner.

Risk-Based Approach

To regulate AI systems by categorizing them according to their risk of use (low risk, medium risk, high risk, prohibited applications).

Supporting Innovation

To encourage ethical and safe use of AI technologies without hindering their development.

Protecting User Rights

To ensure that people’s rights are protected when interacting with AI applications.

Providing a Fair Competition Environment

Preventing unfair competition among companies developing artificial intelligence and encouraging small-scale businesses to take part in this field.

Environmental Sustainability

Ensuring that environmental impacts are minimized and adopting a sustainable approach during the development and implementation of artificial intelligence technologies.

Who Will Be Affected by AI?

The AI Act affects not only companies in Europe, but all AI developers and users offering products or services within the European Union. It is therefore also an important reference point for the global AI sector.

Risk Based Regulation

The AI Act regulates AI applications by dividing them into different risk categories based on their use cases. This means lighter regulations for low-risk systems and stricter controls for high-risk systems

Low-risk applications: Chatbots or recommendation systems.

High-risk applications: Health diagnostic systems or algorithms used in job applications.
